Kopriva is a low-energy home. Its essence is the erasure of the boundary between the beautiful nature of the Karst Plateau and the interior living space, which ensures a comfortable living all year round. The house provides urban comfort in the midst of nature, while harmoniously blending with typical architecture of the Karst Plateau.

An open-plan ground floor, which extends onto the terrace, forms the heart of the house, while large panoramic windows offer luxurious views of the surroundings. In summer, the large glass surfaces on the ground floor are naturally shaded by a green-roofed canopy, which also provides pleasant shade on the terrace. In winter, when the sun is low, its rays shine through the windows beneath the canopy, ensuring plenty of light and natural heating of the house.

Among the most prominent features are the ground floor ceiling made of solid wood, which also serves a decorative purpose, and a green roof on the upper terrace, visible from the rooms on the floor above.
The green roof on the upper terrace changes colours through the seasons, further emphasizing the feeling of connection with nature. All spaces are bright, open and adapted to modern living, with innovative details of the wooden construction ensuring the highest quality of living.
During construction, we used a combination of timber frames and solid construction, which allows for excellent load-bearing capacity, dimensional stability and energy efficiency. The load-bearing wall frames are made from laminated wood, while the ground floor ceiling made of cross-laminated timber panels (CLT) combines structural and decorative functions, as the solid wood adds warmth and a unique aesthetic stamp to the space.
Thermal and sound insulation, along with proper placement of the building, ensures comfortable living all year round, as confirmed by the homeowners, “Traditionally, houses on the Kart Plateau resist the summer heat with thick stone walls, which a prefabricated house of course does not have. Therefore, we were expecting the summer with quite a bit of apprehension (and air conditioning installations in the attic) as temperatures in this area tend to persist at over 30 degrees all day, sometimes for a month at a time. We were more than pleasantly surprised. Even on the hottest days, when we measured 35 degrees outside, we had a pleasant 25 degrees on the ground floor, and even 22 degrees in the attic.”
